Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals Practice Questions (Free Sample)

Free practice sample

Fifteen original AI-900 practice questions, unlocked with no signup and instant scoring. Three questions come from each of the five domains, so the sample reflects the shape of the real exam rather than a single topic slice.

AI-900 does not test coding, deep learning, or statistics. What it tests is service selection under pressure: several Azure AI services will sound plausible for a given scenario and only one fits. These questions are written to that pattern, and every explanation names the winning service and says why the near-miss loses, because on a 40-question form, the difference between Azure AI Vision and Azure AI Document Intelligence is worth real marks.

Outline refreshed January 2026. Generative AI is now its own domain at 20-25%, covering Azure OpenAI Service, grounding and retrieval augmented generation, and the Microsoft Copilot family. Study material written before that refresh misses a large block of the current exam.

AI-900 Practice Questions

  1. Question 1 of 15Artificial intelligence workloads and considerations

A hospital deploys a model that flags patients at risk of readmission. Auditors find the model was trained mostly on data from one demographic group and performs noticeably worse for others. Which Responsible AI principle is most directly at risk?

  2. Question 2 of 15Artificial intelligence workloads and considerations

A logistics firm wants to identify unusual spikes in fuel consumption across its fleet without defining in advance what unusual looks like. Which AI workload type fits?

  3. Question 3 of 15Artificial intelligence workloads and considerations

A company publishes a clear description of what data its recommendation engine uses and how it reaches its suggestions. Which Responsible AI principle does this most directly support?

  4. Question 4 of 15Fundamental principles of machine learning on Azure

A retailer wants to predict next quarter revenue as a dollar figure based on historical sales. Which type of machine learning model is appropriate?

  5. Question 5 of 15Fundamental principles of machine learning on Azure

A data team wants to try many algorithms and hyperparameter combinations against a labelled dataset without writing training code. Which Azure Machine Learning capability fits best?

  6. Question 6 of 15Fundamental principles of machine learning on Azure

In a binary classification model, which metric answers the question: of all the cases the model flagged as positive, how many actually were?

  7. Question 7 of 15Computer vision workloads on Azure

An insurer needs to extract the total, date, and vendor name from scanned supplier invoices into structured fields. Which Azure service is the best fit?

  8. Question 8 of 15Computer vision workloads on Azure

A manufacturer wants a model that draws a bounding box around each defective component visible in a photograph of an assembly. Which computer vision task is this?

  9. Question 9 of 15Computer vision workloads on Azure

A team has 400 labelled photographs of their own product line and wants a model that recognises those specific products. Which service should they use?

  10. Question 10 of 15Natural language processing workloads on Azure

A support team wants to automatically strip customer phone numbers and email addresses out of chat transcripts before archiving them. Which Azure AI Language feature applies?

  11. Question 11 of 15Natural language processing workloads on Azure

A travel company wants a bot that recognises when a user asks to change a booking and extracts the booking reference from the sentence. Which capability is required?

  12. Question 12 of 15Natural language processing workloads on Azure

A publisher receives articles in several languages and wants each converted to English before editorial review. Which Azure service should they use?

  13. Question 13 of 15Generative AI workloads on Azure

An organisation builds a chatbot on Azure OpenAI Service and finds it occasionally invents policy details that do not exist. Which technique most directly addresses this?

  14. Question 14 of 15Generative AI workloads on Azure

Which Microsoft product is designed for building custom copilots and conversational agents without writing traditional application code?

  15. Question 15 of 15Generative AI workloads on Azure

In a large language model, what does the temperature parameter control?

Untimed, no account needed. Your score appears instantly. Add your email afterwards if you want the explanation for every question and a copy of your results.

Frequently asked questions about AI-900

How many questions are on the actual AI-900 exam?

Forms typically run about 40 to 60 items in roughly 45 to 60 minutes. Microsoft no longer publishes a fixed count, so treat those as the usual range and confirm current logistics on Microsoft Learn when you book.

What score do I need to pass AI-900?

700 out of 1000 on Microsoft’s scaled scoring. That is not a raw 70%, because harder items carry more scaled weight. The Certifym practice bank uses a 70% pass mark as an honest raw-score equivalent, a first-attempt score at or above 80% is a strong signal you are ready to book.

Which domain should I study first?

Generative AI, at 20-25%. It is the heaviest domain and the newest, so it is where most existing study material is thinnest. On a 40-question form it is worth eight or nine questions on its own. The other four domains sit within a few points of each other.

Do I need to know Python or machine learning maths?

No. AI-900 is a fundamentals exam that tests recognition and vocabulary rather than implementation. You are asked to identify workload types, match Azure AI services to scenarios, and apply the Responsible AI principles. No coding, deep learning experience, or statistics is required.

Does the Azure AI Fundamentals certification expire?

No. Unlike Microsoft’s role-based associate and expert credentials, the fundamentals certifications carry no annual renewal requirement.

Should I take AI-900 or AZ-900 first?

Either order works, and neither is a prerequisite for the other. AZ-900 gives you the general Azure platform vocabulary that AI-900 assumes in passing, so candidates entirely new to Azure often find it the gentler entry point. Candidates whose interest is specifically AI usually go straight to AI-900.

How is this free sample different from the full Certifym bank?

The sample is a fixed 15-question set spread across the five domains at outline proportions. The full Certifym bank runs full-length practice exams weighted to the same outline, with an explanation on every question including the ones you answered correctly. None of the paid-bank items appear in this sample.
