AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification

SAP-C02 is Amazon Web Services’ senior architect credential. It is designed for practitioners who already ship real workloads on AWS and now need to design across many accounts, many Regions, and many teams at once. The exam does not reward memorized service lists – it rewards the judgment that comes from having lived with an AWS estate long enough to know which trade-off matters when.

The exam has 75 questions. Of those, 65 are scored and 10 are unscored items AWS uses to trial questions for future exams. You will not know which are which. Almost every question is a multi-paragraph scenario with four technically workable answers, and the scored item asks you to pick the one that best satisfies the stated constraints.

180 minutes, at a cost of USD $300. Because nearly every item is a long scenario rather than a short recall question, pacing matters: you have roughly two and a half minutes per item to read the scenario, weigh four workable answers, and commit.

750 out of 1000. On Certifym’s practice sets the pass mark is set to the honest raw-score equivalent of the real exam – the same standard AWS holds candidates to on test day.

There is no formal prerequisite, but the exam is written for practitioners who already ship real workloads on AWS. Two of the four domains – improving existing solutions and accelerating migration – lean heavily on operational experience, so time spent running an actual AWS estate counts for more here than reading.

What makes SAP-C02 hard is not the services, but the discipline of ranking imperfect options.

Four domains: Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity (26%), Design for New Solutions (29%), Continuous Improvement for Existing Solutions (25%), and Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization (20%). The first two together account for fifty-five percent of the exam and should shape the bulk of your study.

Three years.

Drill scenarios rather than service facts. Where the associate-level Solutions Architect exam asks whether you know what a service does, the professional exam asks whether you know when to reach for it, when to leave it alone, and what breaks in the long run. The associate exam tests service knowledge; SAP-C02 tests the judgment to rank several defensible designs against stated constraints.
