Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Practice Questions (Free Sample)

Free practice sample

Fifteen original AZ-900 practice questions, unlocked with no signup and instant scoring. The sample draws proportionally across all three skill areas of the Azure Fundamentals outline (cloud concepts, Azure architecture and services, and Azure management and governance) so the mix you see here reflects the shape of the real exam rather than a single topic slice.

AZ-900 is a vocabulary exam before it is a technology exam. The hard questions rarely ask what a service does; they describe a short business situation and offer four real Azure services or terms, each of which is correct about something, and the work is deciding which one answers this requirement. Is the right tool the Pricing Calculator or the TCO Calculator? Is that a resource lock or an Azure Policy? Does the responsibility in the scenario sit with Microsoft or with you under IaaS rather than SaaS? These questions are written to that standard, and every explanation names the winning answer and the near-miss it beats.

Frequently asked questions about AZ-900

How many questions are on the actual AZ-900 exam?

Roughly 40 to 60 items in a 45-60 minute window. Microsoft does not commit to a fixed count, so the number varies from sitting to sitting and your pacing should be set against the clock rather than against a question total. At that ratio you have well under a minute per item, which is one reason AZ-900 rewards recognising the vocabulary instantly rather than reasoning your way to it. Microsoft Learn shows the current format and duration for the version you are booking.

What score do I need to pass AZ-900?

Microsoft scores AZ-900 on a scaled basis out of 1000 with a cut score of 700. That is not a raw 70%, because the scaling absorbs differences in item difficulty between exam forms. Certifym sets its practice pass mark at 70% as an honest working proxy: if you clear 70% here consistently, across all three skill areas rather than by leaning on the one you find easiest, you are performing at the level the scaled cut demands.

Which domains should I spend the most time on?

Azure architecture and services is the heaviest area at 35-40%, and management and governance follows at 30-35%, together roughly two-thirds of the exam, which is where most of your preparation belongs. Cloud concepts is the lightest at 25-30%, but it is the foundation the other two sit on: get the shared responsibility model, the deployment models, and the IaaS/PaaS/SaaS distinction right and a surprising share of the architecture and governance questions answer themselves.

Do I need Azure experience before I sit AZ-900?

No. AZ-900 does not require prior Azure experience, which is why it is the entry point to the Microsoft Azure certification portfolio. It is aimed at people just beginning to work with cloud-based solutions or new to Azure specifically, developers arriving from another cloud, business stakeholders and project managers who sit next to Azure teams, students, and IT professionals building toward the associate exams. General technology familiarity helps mostly by letting you move faster through the vocabulary-heavy scenarios.

Does AZ-900 expire, and what does it cost?

It does not expire. Unlike Azure’s associate and expert credentials, AZ-900 requires no annual renewal, pass once and the badge stays valid for life, which makes it unusually cheap to hold over time. The exam fee is $99 USD; regional pricing and local taxes vary, so confirm the current figure for your country on Microsoft Learn before booking.

Should I take AZ-900 before AZ-104?

It is not a prerequisite, but it is the intended on-ramp. AZ-900 is designed for candidates building toward the associate exams (AZ-104 for administration, AZ-204 for development, AZ-305 for architecture) and those exams assume the vocabulary and mental model AZ-900 teaches. If you already work with Azure daily, going straight to the associate level is reasonable; if you are new to cloud, the few days AZ-900 costs you are usually recovered several times over on the associate exam.

How is this free sample different from the full Certifym bank?

The sample is a fixed 15-question set spread across the three skill areas at blueprint proportions, with no account needed. The full Certifym AZ-900 offering mirrors the official blueprint weights across ten sets, each a 60-question full-length exam on a 60-minute timer with a 70% cut score. The sets rotate through industry verticals, generic enterprise, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, government, retail, SaaS, higher education, energy, and a mixed-vertical simulator, so the same underlying topics appear in different scenario dressings, and every item carries a written explanation naming the near-miss distractor. None of the paid-bank items appear in this sample.
