AWS Certified Developer Associate Practice Questions (Free Sample)

Free practice sample

Fifteen original AWS Certified Developer – Associate practice questions, unlocked with no signup and instant scoring. The sample draws proportionally across all four domains of the DVA-C02 exam guide (Development with AWS Services, Security, Deployment, and Troubleshooting and Optimization) so the mix you see here reflects the shape of the real exam rather than a single topic slice.

DVA-C02 is where AWS certification stops being a cloud-overview test and starts being a developer test. The hard questions do not ask what a service is; they describe an application pattern already in production and ask what actually happens when it meets a specific AWS service behaviour, which write succeeds, which retry storms, which IAM principal is missing, which trace tells you why. Three of the four options are things a working developer would seriously consider. These questions are written to that standard, and every explanation names the winning answer and the near-miss it beats.

Frequently asked questions about the AWS Developer Associate exam

How many questions are on the actual AWS Developer Associate exam?

65 questions in a 130-minute window, mixing multiple-choice and multiple-response items. Multiple-response questions tell you how many answers to select, and partial credit is not awarded, you either pick the right set or you do not. Confirm current logistics on aws.amazon.com/certification when you book, since AWS sets the format and may change it.

What score do I need to pass DVA-C02?

AWS reports a scaled score out of 1000, with 720 required to pass. That conversion does not map linearly to a raw percentage, so 720 is not “72% correct” on any given form. Certifym sets the pass mark on its DVA-C02 practice sets at 72% as the honest raw-score equivalent, treat it as a floor rather than a target, because a run that clears it on the back of the two heavy domains alone is not the same as genuine coverage.

Which domains should I spend the most time on?

Development with AWS Services is the largest single slice at 32% and Security is 26%, together they carry more than half the exam, and both reward implementation judgment far more than definition recall. Deployment is 24% and leans on CI/CD services, infrastructure as code, and deployment strategies such as canary and blue/green. Troubleshooting and Optimization is the smallest at 18%, but it does disproportionate score damage: those questions make you reason from logs, metrics and X-Ray traces rather than pick a service from a list, so light weighting is not permission to skip it.

Do I need a year of AWS experience before I can sit it?

The exam guide describes its target candidate as a developer with roughly a year of hands-on AWS experience who can already write code in a high-level language and is comfortable with Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM and a CI/CD pipeline. That is a description of who the questions are written for, not a form you submit. If you have the coding background but not the AWS hours, the gap you will feel is service behaviour under load and failure, which is exactly what the Troubleshooting domain is testing.

Is my DVA-C01 study material still usable?

No. DVA-C01 was built on a five-domain structure that has been retired; the current exam has four domains with the weights shown above. If your notes, course or question bank still lists five domains, it predates the current exam and its weightings will send you to the wrong material. Material aligned to DVA-C02 remains valid through the December 2024 v1.3 refresh, which added skills without changing the domain structure or the weights.

What does the exam cost, and how long does the certification last?

$150 USD, delivered either at a Pearson VUE test centre or online proctored. The certification is valid for three years. AWS sets pricing, delivery options and validity, and all three have changed before, confirm the current figures on the official exam page before you schedule.

How is this free sample different from the full Certifym bank?

The sample is a fixed 15-question set spread across the four domains at blueprint proportions, with no account needed. The full Certifym bank is built as complete DVA-C02 practice exams: 65 fresh questions per set, distributed exactly to the blueprint at 21 Development, 17 Security, 15 Deployment and 12 Troubleshooting, on a 130-minute timer with a 72% pass mark. Sets are authored around rotating enterprise verticals so that working through several exposes you to a wide spread of real-world scenarios rather than the same handful reworded. None of the paid-bank items appear in this sample.
